Here are some of our frequently asked questions, which may help when deciding to install a home security system:

Yes, due to their infrared imaging, they provide clear images both day and at night time, when they use special infrared LEDs to cast a red light to identify moving objects. If you’re cameras are old, or inherited with your house, it might be worth checking the images your camera returns and upgrading if necessary to a good all round day and night camera to help you sleep soundly at night.

Yes, our smart security app on your mobile can let you gain access to, and control your CCTV and home security alarm 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s one of the services our clients really appreciate having, as one of the main concerns people have is when their alarm is set off while they’re away from home which can be easily remedied without needing a key-holder to gain entry to your property.

5. Can I have additional key fobs for my cleaner? Yes, not a problem. It will incur a small charge to purchase additional fobs, but you can have as many as you would like. We are also here in case you need any replacements, should you lose or damage one.

Top 3 Exciting new technologies which could help keep you safe in 2018

With new, smart technologies now an intrinsic part of all of our lives, it’s no wonder that there are bigger, better and more exciting things yet to come! We explore some of these exciting new technologies which could help keep us safe in 2018 and beyond…

1. Drones have become a vital security surveillance asset for not only the military and bomb squads but also farmers, landowners and business owners. With their improved, smaller and lighter mini-drone features, they can survey large buildings checking for disturbance or needed maintenance, monitor livestock and investigate crime scenes. So what can we expect for 2018? Well, the technology for these drones is exciting tech enthusiasts across the world, as tests are being carried out on a new Drone which uses images, GPS signal and AI (Artificial Intelligence) to fly autonomously!

As a security company, we are excited by these advances in technology and on behalf of our clients, we want to see these become more affordable for our business clients as they add a vital level of surveillance security. We really look forward to watching security drones become more accessible for businesses across the UK.

2. GPS (Global Positioning System) You might remember a time, when you wrote a note on the fridge to let family know where you were going to be or studying a map before starting your long journey. Well technology has certainly moved on and now GPS integrated in all our lives. It’s even helping keep our kids safe. From smartwatches, to luggage tags, from tracking your fun to finding your friends. GPS is being used to find and track you and your items every day.

There is also a serious safety element to GPS which helps people and the police retrieve stolen items. In 2018, exciting new advances in technology mean that in some mobile products we will be able to track your phone within 30cm of where it is, using clever smartphone technology. As a security company, keeping a track of your possessions whether personal or business assets is of the utmost importance to our customers, however would this particular new advance make some people take adverse risks to their personal safety, if they used this technology to track down and try and retrieve stolen items?

3. Video cameras are part of our daily lives, even children as young as 2 can navigate their way around an iPad to find the camera and video apps. We’ve seen a definite rise in videos becoming a widely recognised tool, in the fight against crime and bringing criminals to justice. Police are are using body cams to record real-time action on their watch, which can protect them and also assist them in court. With car insurance fraud on the rise, drivers are using dash-cams to record their journey in the hope of catching footage to support any claim, should they be involved in a road traffic accident or something more calculated.

Then there are GoPros, which are a fun, wearable action video which are great for filming yourself on the go. They can also help cyclists record their ride and capture any antisocial, driver behaviour they might encounter out on the road. Video camera technologies are being improved all the time. They are becoming accessible and affordable for the general public and make great presents for the kids, which is great news.

When it comes to home security, cctv image quality is just getting better and better. The cameras themselves are getting smaller and smarter, linking to clever apps and GPS, which allows you to monitor your home whilst you’re away. This is only going to get easier in 2018 and beyond.

Ones to watch out for in 2018 Keep your eyes out for new car smart theft technologies allowing to control your car access via a clever smart app.

Many more retailers this year will be able to offer contactless payments via card and mobile app and although these are revolutionising the way we make payments, there is an increase need to keep our cards and personal details safe.

Make it your resolution to keep your phone and cards safe in 2018 and maybe purchasing some of the readily available, blocking technologies and keeping on top of your personal security. The Police and other associations such as Action Fraud  offer some great advice to help keep you, your belongings and your personal data safe.

6 top tips for keeping your home under wraps this Christmas

Christmas is a busy time buying and wrapping the perfect presents, decorating the tree, attending parties and ticking everything off the festive list. But, how can you make sure your efforts aren’t wasted on someone out to help themselves to a slice of your hard work?

Here are 6 Tricks you can tick off your festive list to help keep your home safely under wraps this Christmas:

1. Secret present stash – hiding your gifts from your loved ones at home can be really tricky. Remember that keeping presents in your car or van is a no no, it’s just a risk not worth taking. Finding somewhere at home to keep your presents is definitely the safest option. However, if your home doesn’t have the perfect hiding place and you decide to store larger gifts in an outside shed or garage, just check they’re locked securely and ideally are covered by a security light or monitored by a home security cctv system.

2. Once wrapped – for most of us the wrapping process can take hours, unless you’ve mastered the art of gliding scissors or tape-less wrapping. Once your stunning gifts are wrapped and labelled we’d advise you keep them back in your perfect hiding place until Christmas Eve. However, if you like to put them under the tree nice and early, make sure they’re not visible to anyone passing by your home or attracting any unwanted attention.

3. Increase your home comforts this Christmas – Christmas is a great time to entertain and enjoy your beautiful home, but it’s also a time we need to be a little more security conscious. So to help increase the comfort of your home, why not install a home security system which can monitor your home whilst you’re out buying the last festive, finishing touches. With an easy to use mobile and tablet app, you can check all your cctv cameras whilst you’re out. You can check to see if that all important last parcel was delivered!

4. Not so social – it’s all too tempting for you and the family to post photos on social media of your festive home with the presents laid out under the tree, but with loose privacy settings and location tracking switched on, are we making it too easy for our festive images and address details to get into the wrong hands? Take a few minutes to check your social media privacy settings, and save posting photos of your beautifully wrapped presents until Christmas Eve.

5. After Christmas – for the lucky ones, Santa might bring you a sparkly new MacBook Pro, or a top of the range road bike or perhaps a state of the art 4K TV. If you’re throwing away the packaging, don’t leave it outside your home, visible to passers. Instead, break it up and disguise and big brand names on the packaging so’s not to advertise what valuable goodies are now at your address.
